We gave our dad an extra special Father's Day this year! At church on Sabbath, we each read a poem for him, then we all sang to him! He thought it was really nice! On Sunday morning, we made him hash browns with onions & cheese, fried eggs made just the way he likes them, and freshly squeezed orange juice. We took them to his bedside along with a homemade card.
We have some gift ideas that you might like to try. You could give them as a late gift, or save them for next Father's Day. You could also adapt them to any other special occasion. Almost everyone knows the idea of breakfast in bed, so you could give him his favorite breakfast. Also, you might like to buy a big piece of poster board, fold it in half, and put words on it, substituting candy for some words such as:
- When you tickle me, I get the Snickers.
- You are more precious than a Dove.
- You make me feel like a Butterfinger.
- Dads like you are worth a Mint!
- We love you Mounds and Mounds!
- Payday is Father's Day!
- Hey Mr. Goodbar, you are the Almond Joy of our lives, you Big Hunk!
- We got you a Whatchamacallit gift!
- What a Whopper of a Dad you are!
- We would like to shower you with Kisses!
- The sound of your voice is like a Symphony.
- You are Extra (gum) special to us!
- With Mounds of love, your children.
- Hugs and Kisses, your children.
On the front of your card, you could also put DADDY (or whatever you call your father) in big, bold letters, and then after each letter, put a word that begins with that letter. We put:
- Diligent
- Always Loving
- Dedicated
- Devoted
- Your children love you!
If you are making a card for your grandfather, here are some ideas:
- Great
- Ready to play
- Always Loving
- Never gives up
- Dedicated
- Prayer Warrior
- Admired
